The Yule Log

May the fire
of this log
warm the cold;
may the hungry
be fed; may the
weary find rest,
and may all enjoy
Heaven's peace.
( Traditional prayer said when Yule Log is lighted)

I had'nt heard this prayer before, it's beautiful. I did read that an unburned piece of the Yule Log should be kept as kindling for the next years log.

The lighting of the Yule log has such special significance in other parts of the world, I guess notably in the U.K. I wish it was a tradition we practiced more over here, because I think it's a lovely one. Yes, keep a piece of this year's log to kindle next year's...that's a beautiful thing to carry on.
